Hi. My name is Alina and I'm a nature photography enthusiast. I live in Ontario, Canada - the most beautiful place on Earth. I can walk the same trail every day and still find something new and exiting, that is worth a shot.
My first digital camera was a 5 megapixel Nikon E5900. One day I took a picture of an Eastern Gray Squirrel relaxing on a fence in my backyard and I have been chasing squirrels ever since. I still like this picture :)
These days we all can take awesome pictures of landscapes and sunsets with our smart phones, but if you wish to catch a bird in the sky, you need a bigger camera with a high frame rate and a good, at least 300 mm, telephoto lens.
My gear is simple - Canon EOS 7D and EF400mm f/5.6L USM lens. It’s reasonably light to carry around, as I love hiking and searching for new photo opportunities.
I shoot RAW and try to keep editing to a minimum - custom color balance for every shot, curves, noise reduction and a bit of sharpening.
If you just got a DSLR, you need a teacher, an IT person, a tech support guy, a travel buddy and a friend. I'm very lucky, that I have it all in one. That great guy is my husband :)
Of course, you can do it all by yourself, you just have to be persistent and patient.
My website is coming soon. Meanwhile, you can browse through my galleries on Flickr, Red Bubble and Instagram:
